Excellent piece of kit, 2008-10-12
For the money this is an excellent buy. The flash pen itself is sturdy, attractive and performs well. It is worth the asking price for the hardware alone.

However, the supplied software is also worthwhile. The synchronisation software (Cruzer sync) performs very well as does the U3 option. My only disappointment was that the password software needed a further purchase for full functionality.

If you don't need the supplied software it is easy to get rid of, if you do its an added bonus to a robust, capable flash pen.

I had been using a generic card reader to write to my Kingston SD card and was having some problems with writing files -- often the process would fail halfway through for no apparent reason. Therefore I bought this card reader as a replacement and I can report that I now have no such problems. There's not much else to say about this card reader -- it is plug and play so works for me on Windows and Linux (the Windows software supplied with the reader is an optional extra if you want customised icons in Windows Explorer for different card types). The LED on the card is a constant green when ready and alternates between green and orange when writing to a card, not particularly useful but maybe something to look at. I've successfully used my model (part 20-90-03105) with a 2GB SD card. Considering the issues I had with a cheap generic reader, it's worth spending a few pounds more on one from a known and respected brand.

I've not tested this product fully, so can't comment on its performance as a card reader / writer on a PC, but this is a really great piece of kit to have if you've got a digital camera. How many times have you taken packets of photos to show friends and relatives, only to have to hold two or three conversations simultaneously telling them what was where, who's who, etcetera?

The unit is easy to operate via the remote control (for which SanDisk kindly supply 2 AAA batteries), although I thought it seemed a bit slow to display pictures. This is possibly due to my 6MP D-SLR creating large files in Extra-fine Large JPEG mode, so it may be faster at lower resolutions

Thanks to the unit allowing a second CompactFlash card, you can copy from your camera memory card. The unit gives you the option of compressing the copy down to approximately 50-60k, sufficient for TV viewing but not for print. Sandisk claim you can get about 2,000 photos on a 128MB CompactFlash card using this facility.

Bought this CF card to go with Canon A95 digicam. Fully compatible. Hasn't given any trouble after recording >2000 images in 4 months.

This device is simple. If you want an all-singing [pun intended], all dancing device, then this is not for you.

On the other hand, if you want something that plays music, and is easy to use, then this is wonderful!!

I have just joined the gym, and my phone was too bulky as an MP3. I was looking at either the Apple or Creative equiv. I knew I wanted a display, which ruled out the Shuffle. And reviews for the Sansa Clip were pretty excellent across the board.

Pros:
It's tiny
It's simple to use - the Menu button is very useful
The sound is great
The screen is clear
The fact that it treats audio books differently to play lists

Cons:
The earphones aren't the best, but they're OK.
