awsome player, 2010-01-28
Ok I'v had the 60gb version of this for 3 years now and i cant fault it! put it this way I still use it every day at work and home. I'm a builder aswell and i have gave it alot of abuse and it's still going. When it does die i will probably cry lol. God forbid i have to buy an ipod, creative need to pull there fingers out and make another player of this quality as i wont buy any thing poorly made as the ipod
Seems Big for 2010, 2009-12-02
I have been using the ZEN:M for nearly 4 years now, and i think it has to be one of the best mp3 player there has been. Granted there are a few problems like all products, however the pros of the player out way the cons by far.
If like me you detest itunes then this would have been the player for you. I say would of, because now among the slim new models of players for 2008 onwards the ZEN:M looks like a dinosaur mainly due to size.
The user interface is practically the same as apples ipod only changed to suit the different type of touch pad, so no problems there. The PC software is good as long as you have a reasonable machine, and it doesn't try to take over your life like itunes does.
Sound, well sound is only as good as the tunes you load on, high end mp3 will sound great with decent headphone "seinesser cx500" as the ones supplied, sound good but will break eventually.
One major problem is if there is corrupt files, mp3, avi's etc might sometimes stall and freeze the player leaving you looking for something pin sized to push into the tiny reset switch at the bottom of the player, with a wait of around 2 minutes as it restarts, depending on how much is stored on the player.
You can use the player as a removable drive on windows OS machines and there is no copy protection like ipods, it just gives you the freedom to do what you want and not want apple say.
In the end it was and still is a cracking player excellent sound, screen and battery life. However nearly 2010 it just seems abit big these days, but the price has stayed high showing that creative produce fantastic product.

Quite simple I had bought 2 30 gig Ipod videos about 1 or 2 years back THEY BOTH FAILED!!!!! so i changed to this little gem. Tracks are easy to put on, to be fair you can do it with out the software, as the software is a bit pants. But the Mp3 player itself is great.
I have not played any vids on it so I can't comment on that, but the radio and music quality is fantastic.
It is quite a big peice of kit but it is rebust I have dropped it many of times ( and I mean dropped it!) and it still works fine!.
I have 1 gripe it does freeze alot and the hardrive did die on me randomly, but thanks to the web i managed to get it into recovery mode reformat the harddrive and now its working better than ever!!!. Though putting 2000 songs back on was annoying im just glad I did'nt give up on it.
Conclusion
Quite simply if you want a good Mp3 for a fair price that is rebust and wont break in the next 3 months 0r even year (well mine has'nt) get one of these.

I had this for several months and thought it was a great product (thumb pad takes a bit of getting used to). That was until a little bit of pressure was put on screen (was in wife's handbag for about 30 min) and screen badly cracked even though it was in a protective case. Creative's customer service boardered on insulting, accussing me of smashing it then claiming it was faulty. They won't repair /replace the screen even if you offer to pay! They only offered a reconditioned one for me to buy at almost full price. Their service was so bad that I'll never buy a Creative product again. Have since loads of reviews with the same complaint of screen breaking too easily.
