Best Sound around, 2010-02-19 ive had sony mp3 player walkmans and a ipod but this little marvel beats em all simple to use and has the best sound around the x-fi system is great! also comes the the best free head phones ive had. extra memeory slot the lot ive had two now (i sat on one and the screen broke) iam not suprissed really and i dont blame the build quality.
Buy any other but not this one, 2010-01-27 If you're sick of ipods or Sony mp3s and want something different....well, there's nothing really that compares to them which is why everyone has them. I got this to use down the gym (they play duff music there) because it's solid state and therefore no moving parts to fail - big mistake. It absorbs moisture like there's no tomorrow and switches off with a screen warning about being wet. You can only dry it out by removing the plastic SD place holder so air can get inside - don't put it on a radiator! The controls are small and fiddly, the volume function lost in several layers of menus and difficult to get to, which makes it so hard to use on-the-go that like me, you'll just give up and buy and ipod touch after all.
Creative ZEN X-Fi 8GB MP3 player with SD card slot, 2010-02-07 My enjoyment of this product has been marred rather by a faulty battery (not charging properly) and a wildly inaccurate clock. However the main reason for chosing this player was for sound quality, functionality and the memory card. On all three it scores high.
Even at it's lowest setting the music sound is clear and uncluttered where other players have annoying hiss and system blips. It is easy to use, simple to learn the various functions and the addition of a SD card slot means I can show all my holiday snaps to people without tying up my camera.
The other funcitons such as video and FM radio are good, a though are of seconday inportance to me, I may be using them more than I thought.
My only grip is the organiser which needs MS outlook or similar to function which is not explained on the blurb. However this is a small gripe.
Hopefuly getting in touch with Creative will enable me to solve the hardware problem, we shall see if their customer support will need a review! And if it was not for this problem I would definately be a 4 star, maybe even a FIVE!
Best choice by far!, 2010-02-22 Bought this as a xmas present for my son. Was very apprehensive about buying this product but so glad I did! He loves it, permanently listening to his music through the television in his bedroom now.....is that a good thing!?!? Very good quality, easy to use and value for money.
Had two, neither lasted more than 3 months, 2010-02-17 I was given a Zen as a present in June, by September it stopped working - just wouldn't switch on one day. It had not been dropped or damaged in any way. The customer service guys spent several days sending emails on how to restart it before eventually admitting defeat. We had to spend 36 Euros to send the machine in and were eventually sent a new one at the end of September. By early December, this one had a broken screen, again without having been dropped or damaged in any way. I don't think I will bother sending this one in, what's the point in paying 30-40 Euros every three months on postage for something that is so liable to faults?
