Good little player, very short battery life, 2010-07-27 BATTERY LIFE: fully charged up to 10 hours (not 15 like advertised and written on the box), this is probably my worst disappointment although I am really in love with Clip+.
SOUND QUALITY: very good, I've used it with my Sennheiser CX-300 II and am not disappointed at all.
EARPHONES: not bad, but not ear-canal earphones, could probably match sound quality of iPod's earphones. I would still recommend changing them to something worth your ears like Sennheiser.
DESIGN: the player is very tiny, just like matchbox (see customer pictures). The display is very bright even on the lowest contrast possible. It's also very light, so if you clip it onto your clothes or bag you can completely forget it's even there.
FIRMWARE: before doing anything I would recommend upgrading the firmware, if you do thta everything will work perfectly. After copying the music, the player creates a music library of it, sorted by Recently Addedm, Artistas, Albums, Songs, Genres, My Top Rated, Playlists, Podcasts, Audiobooks, Recordings. The player also supports folder browsing and lets you rate songs as you listen to them.
MICRO SD/SDHC SLOT: great for upgrading your music library, you can get up to 32GB card + 8GB player memory which would give you altogether 40GB in a tiny player.
OVERALL: it's a lovely tiny and very light player, certainly worth the money. The Micro SD/SDHC slot makes it even more lovable :)
Good but not loud enough, 2010-07-28 I bought this as I wanted to upgrade from my 2GB Creative Zen Stone. My primary reasons for upgrading were memory size and ease of navigation. On both these counts the Sansa Clip+ proved far superior. When combined with a 16GB micro sd card, this product offers a huge amount of storage relative to its price and size. Navigation is simple and intuitive, and allows browsing by artist, album, song, genre, and folder. Also of note is that the player reads the ID3 tags from both its internal memory and the memory card and compiles them into a single library so you can browse using the tags without having to worry about where you stored the files. The downside to this is that after you add songs and remove the player for your computer it takes a while to build the library. With storage maxed out on both the micro sd and the internal memory this takes about five minutes, which can be irritating if you just want to put a song on and immediately listen to it.
The other main downside I found in upgrading was that the player doesn't sound as loud as my old player. It's not a problem in most situations, but occasionally when I'm walking alongside loud traffic I'll want to turn the volume up louder than the maximum.
Other than these two issues the player is pretty much perfect. It looks and sounds good, is easy to use, and comes at a fantastic price. I've been using it regularly for over a month and I'm very happy with it.
SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 8GB MP3 Player with Radio and Expandable MicroSD/SDHC Slot - Black, 2010-07-27 This a wee cracker. I bought this one cause I am not gadget minded and its review said it was easy to use. I have some other Sandisk gear and they are easy to use and reliable. It really is a plug and play and drag and drop deal. Its little though, I thought it was ciggy pack sized but no its more like a Zippo lighter but 1/3 of its weight and thickness. The wife ( who it was bought for) likes it. I bought a charger cause I dont trust charge units that need a USB port off of a computer but I really should have not wasted the money as I plug it into the computer and it just charges without fuss and the same with music you just drag and drop any old music files over to it and drop them in its music folder and it converts them instantly. The sound quality is somehow way better than I expected as I though I would need expensive earphones but the ones that come with it are just fine.Cheers atholl SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 8GB MP3 Player with Radio and Expandable MicroSD/SDHC Slot - Black
Works well with Ubuntu Linux, great value, great sound., 2010-07-27 If linux won't recognize it then disconnect the player, turn it on, go to
Settings > System Settings > USB mode and > MSC (set it to msc)
It should work fine when you reconnect it :)
[Ubuntu Linux is a free and open source an Operating System like Windows or Mac]
As stated in many other reviews be sure when you first buy it not to set your location to Europe, otherwise the sound will be quiet because of EU restrictions.
4GB is enough for about 1000 songs.
The player is excellent value for money, has excellent sound quality, is very easy to use, good battery, good radio, good internal microphone for the voice recorder, expandable storage with a micro SD, and doesn't require the instillation of any software onto your computer.
It's flawless. I love it.
Fantastic little player, 2010-07-28 After spending many weeks reading reviews on different MP3's, I decided to purchase the Sandisk 2GB Sansa...A fantastic bit of kit and well worth the money, sound is brilliant, although you do need to go into the settings menu to increase the volume (something to do with EU regulations, but there is a description on how to do it in the discussions section for this product)...Earphones are really good, although a little to large for my ears as they keep falling out when i'm in the gym..but again a minor inconvenience..My only gripe with this product is the packaging, it's nigh on impossible to open the blister pack, so had to resort to scissors to get through the plastic...all in all i'm well pleased with this player and would definitely consider another
