I had been considering the idea of buying this for about a year but was put off by all the bad reviews. My fiance bought it for me for x-mas and I have waited for a month before posting my review.

I love it! I haven't had any problems. The transfer speed is quick, I use windows media player to synchronise and dont have any problems. Have used about a 100gb of storage for music, films and tv episodes, and transfers take minutes and not hours as some people state. yes you have to spend more on the plug ins which is a bit of a con, but its not the end of the world.

The build quality is good, i haven't had any software issues. It is easy to navigate and file management on the the archos is simple. It has crashed on me a couple of times when multi tab internet browsing.

My experience has ben completley positive with this archos and I havent experienced any of the negatives mentioned in the bad reviews. I just wish I hadn't been put off and had gotten it sooner!

this product is completely different to the previous model, i personally do not own one (although i would love to have one) i have used a friend of mines and it is simply fantastic, as far as i could see there was absolutely nothing wrong with it at all.

This MP3 player is basically perfect.
I had a little teething trouble with itunes on my PC, but once I got over that I have had no problems whatsoever, which is more than I can say for the Creative MP3 player I used to have.
I love the way the ipod looks - modern and sleek without being too flashy - and the cover art feature is great. Sometimes you have to upload the cover art yourself, but the new version of itunes does a lot of them automatically now.
The wheel is good and allows for quick scrolling, and you can also scroll through letters of the alphabet rather than having to trawl through every single album/artist.
There are a few games on here. The best is the one which tests your knowledge of your own music collection, and it can certainly help pass a long bus or train journey.
80GB provides plenty of space and while it doesn't hold all of my music, it holds a lot. Not fitting everything on also means I freshen up my collection regularly, meaning I listen to a bigger variety of music.
I've had my ipod for over a year now and it still looks and sounds as good as new.

I bought a Silver 80Gb iPod Classic over 2 years ago for 220 Euros (in Ireland) and definitely feel it was money well spent. Haven't experienced a noticable drop in battery life over the 2 years, and performance as a whole is, as far as I can tell, more or less where it was when new. As for problems with volume levels, I've found that once mpeg files have been set at maximum volume levels in iTunes that volume has been ideal, at least for my expectations. Only problem I have experienced occurred close to 2 years after I bought my iPod. The problem manifested itself as what seemed like an inability to play certain tracks, which were automatically skipped by the iPod. However this problem was remedied by re-synching the problem tracks, and hasn't been too common an occurrence. Since my iPod is still performing well I haven't had a look at recent additions to the market, so I can't compare it to newer models. Nonetheless, I'd recommend it as a good purchase, but perhaps a model that is soon to be outdated.

Whanted a mobile music player for my music collection as i was tired of transfering all my cd's from the car to my house each day.
With this i pod it does what it says on the box, i have an extensive music collection and i still have loads of space left. I am still trying to download podcasts but not got it yet. I bought the flip cover for this model and thats a good buy as well. I did buy a better pair of earphones as i felt the ones supplied were a bit "tinny" with the sound repro. Other wise no problems would give it a big thumbs up

Great Product, not cheap, 2009-08-24
I have owned this for 2 years now and it has performed well. It is still working at the moment, and I have watched hundreds of hours of TV on it. I have recorded TV and used it for the internet. I have dragged it on planes trains and automobiles as I travel almost permanently working in some extreme places in the oil industry. So I have really given this a hammering. And it works still. This is so much better than other gadgets which pack up if you shout at them. Hence the high rating. This is a gadget I actually use.
