At last I have found a machine with a digital display that I can actually read. So many other modals
have very small letters with no back light and badly spaced out pixels on the display. Being a 'Silver Top'I find it a truely easy display to see who is ringing before I answer the call.

This genuine Panasonic battery holds it's charge for a long time, when not being used. The Inov8 replacement 'equivalent' batteries don't. I know this from bitter experience! The moral of this little tale? Always buy genuine Panasonic batteries, the extra cost is worth it.

I received this as a present. Having only previously owned a point and shoot, I have been looking to trade up to a 'grown-up' camera but don't take enough photo's to warrant buying a Digital SLR or anything too professional. This 'bridge' camera is the best of both worlds for me. I was a bit concerned when I looked at the size of the manual, but decided to just take it on holiday and go from there. I have not actually had to look at the manual at all yet, it is so intuitive. I have played with all of the settings and it is great fun trying things out. The zoom is exactly what I was hoping for and I have some great close up shots that I could never have taken before. The automatic function works like a point and shoot which was really handy while I was learning how to use the other functions. I am very pleased with it.

An excellent all round camera, 2010-03-10
I have been looking to buy this camera for sometime, but some of the comments re. battery life and 'loose dial' had made me be a bit hesitant!!..but in the end 'bit the bullet'and purchased one a few days ago. Have tested it thoroughly, the dial has not budged!, and have hammered the video, and have taking nearly 100 pics, used the zoom and flash often, and have replayed the pic replay with music many many times! The battery after all my 'hammering' was still at 30% plus as of today...not too bad at all.
The quality of build is superior, and the pics so far are brilliant.
This is a camera....to buy.

A superb camera at the price and more than adequate for a 'point-and-shoot'amateur like myself. Perhaps one day I'll get round to playing with all those additional features but for now it can do the work. Its automatic brain seems to be functioning far better than mine. A big advance over my old FinePix F10 - and that wasn't bad. Useful zoom. Highly recommended for simpletons like me.

Brilliant camera to use when you don't want to carry an SLR. It works as a "point and shoot", if that's what you want. The best feature, I have found, is the macro facility; I can't believe how close you can get and the detail is incredible.
