 "Lens error, restart camera", 2010-02-11
I was chuffed when I bought this camera. I thought this was a fantastic P&S camera until today. I was at the Natural History Museum in London taking pictures. I switched it off, then about a minute or so later I switched it on to take a picture in the Central Hall. The camera didn't operate in the normal fashion. The lens didn't open and the lens stayed in the off position. The screen then displayed a message 'lens error, restart camera'.
I've searched the web for this error message and found an abundance of people that have experienced the problem, across the Canon product range. If it was just a few people, I would have felt part of the unlucky few, but there are loads of people posting reviews containing this message.
I have a Nikon DSLR and am thoroughly disappointed at the issues that have arisen from my Canon IXUS 85 IS. Well actually, I am seething as I only purchased the Canon IXUS 85 IS in May 2009.
Cracking Camera, 2009-10-13
For the price I thought this was a fantastic camera. I bought it my wife for her birthday to replace a kodak camera she had broken. The cost was about the same but the camera I pesonally think is much better. As far as the picture quality goes there isn't anything to choose but the little touches you get from the canon are fantastic. The colour accent itself is worth the money, it can give you some amazing pictures.
Great, stylish, compact, 2009-10-07
I love this little camera, takes up no space at all. Loads of features and quite easy to learn basic features. Most of all fantastic pictures. Make sure you know how to use the most common features before you take it out though.

This compact camera is just fabulous. Some of the results we get are at least a match for our Nikon D-SLR which cost over a thousand pounds. This canon compact is an outstanding purchase in terms of quality and value for money.
excellent pocket-sized digital camera, 2009-10-04
I have owned several small digital cameras, up until now most of them sony. The Canon IXUS 85 IS is simply the best digital camera i have ever owned. Quality pictures, very user-friendly and an array of fab settings; overall brilliant! I would recommend this camera to anyone; from children to experienced photographers. Canon rules ok :)
