Astonishing for the price!!, 2010-07-12 I bought this camera to replace a 5 megapixel compact I purchased several years ago at three times the cost of this amazing camera. I have only had it a couple of weeks and still experimenting, but so far I am amazed and delighted with the results. I bought it - and not its successor - on the strength of the reviews and I can only concur with all other comments, don't hesitate, just buy - you won't be disappointed.
Panasonic Lumix FS7, 2010-03-29 I did a lot of homework for a new camera to take to Cuba and this was highly recommended - the pictures are great and the camera is easy to use; video quality and sound is great too..
Excellent!, 2010-03-19 I initially bought the new Lumix FP1 but that has too many pixels on a smaller sensor degrading the images so changed to the older and cheaper FS7 and the difference is remarkable. Image quality, ease of use and value for money give this camera five stars. I have another (expensive) Lumix camera but the FS7 will be the one that goes everywhere!! Highly recommended!!
Great value, 2010-04-26 We've had this camera for about 3 months and it has been superb. Its light to carry and takes excellent quality photographs. We have found the video quality to be of a very good standard too, bearing in mind that this is really just a point-and-shoot snapper. That said, there are some excellent features on board too - we have a baby so its baby-specific setting is supposed to show the baby with a healthy complexion, but what we find most useful is that it stores the baby's age in months and days within the file data for each photo. The holiday option also lets you program in your holiday dates and destination, then alters to the local time automatically when you arrive. Also the crowd setting - great for taking stage shots at music festivals - the screen contrast changes so you can still see it whilst holding the camera above your head.
We have tried taking pictures in a range of different environments and lighting conditions and found that the Intelligent Auto system works really well if you don't have the time or the patience to get the right setting. Other plus points are the battery life (well over 100 snaps on one charge) and the amount of time between pressing the button and the image being recorded (very fast!). I guess the most telling thing about this camera is that I can't wrestle it away from my technophobic girlfriend as she finds it so easy to use and gets great shots.
Slight negatives are that the battery has to be removed from the camera to be recharged (without upgrading) and that there is no camera case included (cheaply and easily rectified). When you consider that the processor used in this camera is used in Panasonic models that are twice the price, then this little point-and-shoot really represents excellent value.
lumix fs7, 2010-05-06 very easy camera to use much quicker than my last for actually taking a picture almost instant and good quality
