The Samsung ST500 is a fabulous camera!
I bought it from amazon at a considerably lower price than on the high street, and was really impressed with it.

The double screen feature is awesome, the zoom is fantastic, and the picture quality is great - Beautiful shots every time! (The beauty mode feature is also a god-send!)

The ST500 is really light, and it looks gorgeous - just the right size for a clutch bag :)

I'd reccommend it to anyone!

The iA function does all the hard work for you, and it really works.
All the scene modes work and do what they are ment to. (some cameras dont seem to make much difference)
The starry sky mode is brilliant. (must use a tripod though)
Really easy menu to follow.
Battery lasts longer than I thought, some of the reveiws I have read did not give it much of a good rating, but i have had the GPS mode off and not tried it yet.
The Manual mode lets you change Aperture and shutter speed etc, but unless you know what you are doing with them there is not much point.
The 12x optical zoom is very good.
Build quality is excellent.
The software provided does a good job.

Bad points
Hard to keep your fingers away from the AF light on the front corner.
The AVCHD "LITE" (different to standard AVCHD)video files are not recognised by the older editing programs, I have had to upgrade my "Corel videostudio 12" to corel videostudio pro x3.
Quite annoying that the price will rapidly drop in a few months, so if you can wait,you will save a few quid.

bought this as a christmas present for my girlfriend, anything electronic and she is not the best.
within a few minute's she was up and running and now is useing it like a pro. the reason i picked the lumix range is because of it's pedigree, i own the lumix dmc fz18 and i love it, it do'es everything i need to do in a camera.

What a brilliant piece of kit, well done Canon, I'm glad i did my research on this camera as it proved invaluable when choosing, it was everything it said it would be and more.Please take my word for it, i havn't put it down since i got it.Takes brilliant quality and clear pics without the flash and with....it overshadows my DSLR CANON 400D a little as far as the digic4 processor is concerned, but will probably use the 400D more and keep the G10 for going out for the evening or something, when all my other gear is too heavy to carry.

A simple camera - idiot proof!, 2010-02-20
I'm no expert so I wanted a camera that delivered quality results,not too expensive and also one which did not require a three hour session with the 'how to do it' book and a technical glossary. This is it, it is fine, the results are excellent and the intelligent settings are so easy. What more can I say - its a great camera which fits easily in the pocket and easy to use - everything that I wanted in a camera. I would recommend it without hesitation.
