Improves with practise!, 2010-08-05 Have had this camera for just over a week.Upgrading from Ixus 90IS, which is a very good camera. This one is better, with great image quality, but needs practise.Had read about the loose wheel on the back, but thought I could handle it. Wrong! In P mode it is so easy to go from AutoISO to 3200 with one little touch! Did this to my cost on important shoot. Now use Aperture priority mode with front ring set to zoom or Exp comp. This leaves the rear wheel giving aperture control, which somehow gives a firmer feel to the ring. Also, less damage can be done. It is a shame the wheel cannot be disengaged, except in Auto mode. But then nothing can be altered at all, and the camera has a tendency to shoot up ISO values like mad - even with flash. Which brings me to another tip - When engaging flash (hopefully not often) set ISO manually to 100 or 200 - or the camera will use a very high ISO, resulting in over exposure.
I also recommend decreasing screen brightness by a notch - and power off in 20 seconds to help what is a thirsty battery. Canon's NB5L battery would have been a better bet for this camera. I have already recharged four times, but that is probaby down to a great deal of play.
However, when set right, the images are great, and Canon have at least succeeded in producing a compact giving near DSLR quality - which was their intention in the first place. Because of this, I still award five stars in spite of the foibles. If you want great compact image quality, then buy it. You won't be disappointed.

finepix s1600, 2010-08-20 The first one I received was badly packaged and damaged. However after e-mailing through the returns procedure at Amazon I received a perfect new one.I had tried one out in a local shop before buying one so I new it was the one I wanted. The pictures it produces are great.I haven't tried all the features yet but it has enough to be going on with. The shutter delay is very short, which was a major deciding factor for me.I had occasion to use a camera to photograph my daughter getting an award years ago using a new,at the time, digital camera. It came out alright but I missed the shot I wanted because of the shutter delay. Now modern cameras have a burst function where ten shots are taken at once. However they don't all use the full mega-pixel rating of the camera.A niggly problem I had, though nothing to do with the camera, was the instruction manual. There isn't one, you have to download it.I thought it a bit poor that I should have to carry a fistful of A4 sheets with me to refer to.I phoned Fuji and they were more than happy to supply me with the proper pocket-sized book free of charge. Now why can't they supply one with the camera?I gave it 5 stars because of the service I received as much as the quality of the product, which is great.

Excellent, 2010-08-31 This is my first 'proper' digital camera, and I'm not disappointed. My first choice after reading a review in a computer magazine, I spent days trawling the internet looking at digital cameras, reading as many reviews as possible, Which? reports etc, but still came back to the Fuji A170. Superb build quality, nicely weighted in a metal case (no cheap plastic here). The lens is stunning for the price, software download easy peasy, printed images faultless. I chose the blue version, most attractive it is too. The only niggle is the full user guide is only contained on the enclosed cd and runs to 102 pages, you only get very basic instructions on printed matter. All in all a remarkably good buy, especially at Amazon's price.

Fuji Dig Camera Finepix AX280 Pink 128368 • Fuji Digital Camera Finepix AX280 Pink 128368
nice little camera, 2010-09-01 Bought the finepix ax280 a few weeks ago and I am now on hols writing review.
The camera is nice and small and fairly simple to use ( has a few picture settings that I have not used yet)
It does not 'eat' batteries so have taken 100+ photos with the first set.
14mp is more than enough for ameture/holiday photos and the 5x optical zoom means that no clarity is lost when in use.
I am happy with this camera and hope to use it for years to come.

Excellent Product, 2010-08-01 This is the best camera bag ever. Both my wife and I have these bags. My wife has the 100AW and I have the 202AW. They give easy and comfortable access to you camera whilst you are on the move. Whether you are cycling or walking or indeed, for the brave, rollerblading. As we are often traveling this bag is a pick it up and go bag and you know you have everything in it including lenses, chargers, cleaning kit, cables and anything else you may need for you camera. I even have my HD Video cam in mine.
I have not been as satisfied with a camera bag as I have with this one. Hence I give it 5 stars.

Sony
Who's a clever little Sony?, 2010-06-18 Firstly I'm not a camera buff and know nothing about apertures of F stops. I like to take quick photos with no fuss or blur.
I have had two Sony digital cameras prior to this and to be honest I was considering changing brands - luckily I didn't. What stopped me was the fact that I had loads of Sony memory cards (the ones that are useless everywhere else) and this camera has a Panoramic function. Always a sucker for gadgets I thought must have that and I'll probably never use it.
How wrong I was. The panoramic function is brilliant, especially when you get the kids to stand on one side and run behind you to the other and appear twice in one photo.
Normal photos are a good quality. I saw one review which criticised the fact that the camera had to be switched on (therefore lens comes out) and then viewing selected by pressing the button on the back. Viewing can be accessed whilst the camera is switched off by pressing and holding the view button. (No lens comes out)
Movies are of a quality similar to a camcorder once downloaded to DVD - still not quite as useful, function-wise, as a camcorder but handy to have.
The size of this is amazing, so small I thought the camera was the battery when it arrived - can make it a bit fiddly if you have big hands, but is easy to carry around in a shirt pocket.
Another bonus is Sony now use SD cards as well as the smaller Sony memory stick pro duo so memory is cheaper too.
