A little Epson Magic, 2009-11-13 I brought the PX700W as an upgrade from the R285 printer that I already had.The Print and scan quality is excellent and the built-in print dircet onto disc feature is fantastic.
Epson Stylus Photo PX700W Photo All In One Printer with WiFi, 2009-10-12 This is a good printer with many good features.
I also purchased the duplex unit at the same time which is great if you want double sided printing or to print PDF's in booklet form.
It prints very good photos but only if you use genuine epson phote paper.
The genuine ink cartridges don't come with much ink and do run out quickly.
I use it for printing photos and documents and although the quality of document printing is good it is not as good as my old Lexmark X85 [3 in 1 printer] which was slightly crisper and darker. However that was only on a direct comparison and after a while you get used to the epson.
I sometimes wish I had gone for the model with the auto document feeder [I am scanning a lot of old photos] but that is just lazyness on my part.
It comes with a cd printer unit however I have not yet managed to print onto an inkjet printable disk without the ink smudging. I am hopeful that I find the correct print setting soon as I going through a lot of CD's.
Overall though I am very happy with the printer.
Nice printer while it works but not for long, 2009-10-26 Flimsy junk. Worked well for a time drank ink, clogged up, needed to be sent back for service so it is now in the bin. I am not going to buy any more cartridges for it. This is the worst printer I have ever had for lifespan.
I want a printer that does not take forever to print a sheet of paper while it fiddles with itself and uncloggs its heads. Dribbles ink on the photo prints and has a customer service that would actually reads my complaint rather than answering from their script sheet to point out facts in use of the printer I have already told them in the letter. They obviously get a lot of letters of that sort so have honed obsfuction to an art.
This is the third nasty horrible printing experience from Epson. It will be my last!
It only gets one star as there is no option for none or a minus number.
Avoid, 2009-11-14 1. Replacement ink costs about £35-00. Reading other reviews generic inks are not yet compatible so you are forced down this road.
2. The Epson ink when first loaded requires head cleaning each time. This frequently used over half of the ink within some of the other cartridges (on one occasion it seemed to drain almost the entire black cartridge.
3. It has a habit of giving up during printing and coming up with a message that says print heads clogged, switch off for at least 6 hours!
My fourth Epson printer and indeed my last. An expensive folly.
The Epson PX700W..Truly awful printer. Avoid at all costs, 2009-12-02 The Epson PX700W is the worst printer I have ever owned. Firstly it is built out of the cheapest plastic possible (like the stuff they made Lada Riva dashboards out of). The cartridge for placing the paper is forever sending several sheets out at a time, and it cannot handle thick photo paper either..you can give thick paper a nudge to go through with most printers, but the cartridge does not allow this). The CD tray often takes 10-15 moinutes going through an operation programme before you can actually use it..the printer itself also does this when you switch it on to make a paper copy). It will stop printing half way through a print if the ink in one of the cartridges is low..so if you are using expensive paper thats goodbye to that. It shovels in ink like a V12 Jaguar does to petrol and just about every time you try to use a function it shows the 'operation invalid' message. If you are offered one of these printers for 10p dont buy it! Absolute trash.. and I did'nt even mention the poor print quality (prints very dark even on higher settings).I notice Epsom have introduced the PX650W which although still made of the Lada plastic it has done away with both the paper cartridge and the inbuilt cd tray and gone back to the days when Epson could actually build a printer...if only I could buy an RX640 again. Given it 1 star, but it deserves none....trash, trash, trash!
