- With six differently coloured cartridges, this Epson Stylus Photo P50 produces impressive photos. Claira inks contribute to enhancing the quality of tones and ensure prints don't fade with time. In fact, you'll be able to keep your colour snaps in a frame or album for roughly a century, or for about 200 years if you print them in black and white - so generations to come can enjoy your creations! What's more, the Epson P50 can even be used to label compatible CDs and DVDs, meaning you can add yo
- ur own personal stamp and see what's on the discs without having to turn on your computer.

There's no real competition for this printer, 2009-09-15 All-in-one A3 printers are rare beasts so find one below £300 and one is prepared to accept a few compromises.
It's true that the black may not be as intense as some other printers but apart from that it is difficult to criticise this printer.
For me A3 copying is perhaps the most important feature since I justified buying the Brother purely on the basis of what I spend at copy shops. Here the Brother excels at producing fast, accurately scaled copies in black and white as well as colour. Printing at A3 size is also surprisingly fast.
The fact that the printer has a tray for A4 as well means it could easily serve as a single office printer/copier.
Installation was child's play including configuring wi-fi networking and at no time during the process did the printer need to be cable-connected to a computer. All computers on the network could be configured to use the Brother simply by installing the Brother software.
I can't vouch for any of the Brother-supplied utilities because I don't need them but everything on the driver-side works perfectly.
Finally the on-printer touch screen is very user-friendly and allows several favourite copy and scan settings to be stored.
The printer is surprisingly compact considering what is does and its design is very pleasing to the eye.
Reliability may be an issue in the future but so far it has worked perfectly.
Update:-
Well I've been using this printer for nearly 6 months now and, if anything, I am even more impressed than I was. Remarkably, I am still on the original cartridges, the black has 25% remaining and the others have 50%. In 6 months my Lexmark would be on its 3rd cartridges by now.
I have used the scanner extensively over the last couple of months and it is both rapid and capable of phenomenal resolution. The software is quickly configured and it's easy to use supporting jpg, bmp, tif, png and pdf formats.
I keep the printer loaded with A4 and A3 and use it as my main printer, my Lexmark is now relegated to printing envelopes and cheques; the Brother not being very easy to adjust for special stationery.
Reliability has been excellent, no loss of wi-fi connection, no ADF jams, no printer snarl-ups and no lost printing jobs.

Epson
Simply The Best, 2010-04-14 I have had the Epson r2880 printer for only a few days and have printed many prints both with the original Epson cartridges and also a Lyson continuous ink system which I have since purchased and installed, and I can say that the pictures I get are really outstanding, especially the black and whites. In fact I am so impressed with the black and white prints, I am going through my best photos and converting many of them. As I said I am using the Lyson CIS system and printing unto Fotospeed lustre paper. Brilliant.

Lexmark
The Lexmark Z735 offers 4800 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi) print resolution on photo paper in best mode to produce photo-quality pictures. Print 4 inch x 6 inch borderless photos as fast as 38 seconds when printing in QuickPrint mode and excluding PC process
Good, Basic Printer, 2007-07-03 I combine this with a HP Laserjet 1020 14ppm A4 Black and White Laser Printer. I use the Lexmark only when I need colour. Colour quality is fine, reasonably economical, a good basic colour printer. Better than alot of other printers on the market. Also it talks to you when printing starts and finishes....just thought i'd tell you.

Time tested, 2009-02-01 I bought this item a couple of years ago now so have had time to discover any problems. I haven't found any.
It cost a lot more then than now but I don't regret buying it and would go for the same again. It does everything I need it too and the ability to deal with photo negatives is great.
A good buy.

What have I been missing out on?!, 2006-09-18 I always thought a magic box was a dishwasher, but now I know it's this little baby!
For many years I've been clicking away on my digi camera and storing them on my pc. Printed the odd one off on my laser printer with terrible results, and never been bothered to goto Boots to use one of those kodak 'print your own pics off' machines.
Since I have bought the Epson Picture mate Photo printer, I've been reeling off pic after pic. It's SO easy to use. Plug it in, add the cartridge, add the paper, stick in your memory stick... choose from the easy peasy display screen what pic you want to print.. how you'd like it? Zoom it, make it black and white, how many you want, then one click of a button and a 'perfect' quality print pops out in less than 30 seconds! Love it, love it! Cheap as chips to run (if you buy the packs inc cartridge and paper from Amazon - much more expensive elsewhere) so all in all, I can't fault it!
Some may find the 6x4" only prints restricting, but for me it's just the ticket! So get those treasured pics off your PC, get them printed and enjoy!

Identify and buy the right printer for your needs., 2010-05-18 I bought the Epson R800 in 2007 and it's still giving excellent service. I use it only for producing exhibition quality prints. There are cheaper printers using cheaper inks for producing numerous run-of-the-mill photos. Horses for courses as they say. I have not experienced blocked nozzles with this printer, despite 3 to 4 weeks between printings. My standard practice is to make at least one 4x6 colour print every 3 weeks or so. This seems to keep the print heads healthy. Only once, when I moved from London to Wales, did I have to realign the print heads to cure banding probably caused by the vibration in moving. In 2008 I attended the Epson Print Academy and gained insight into colour printing techniques and why Ultrachrome pigment ink cartridges are expensive. This was not just a propaganda exercise by Epson but actually assisted me in the production of better prints. There is no perceptible variation in colour matching between batches of ink cartridges and the ink technology involved is very specialised. The horror stories that I read in the various reviews of this printer only lead me to suspect that some users have not identified what they really need in a printer and matched it to the kind of printer they should buy.

HP
Superb almost lab quality prints, 2009-04-03 Most machines you see in chemists etc that allow you to print your own digital photos will have something based on similar technology to this lurking inside their big fancy plastic bodies. So, you would expect a photo printer to create photo prints of comparable quality.
With this printer you will not be disappointed!
Sharp, detailed prints, with realistic colours that don't seem to fade over time (probably wise to keep them out of direct sunlight though, as anything will fade if exposed to the sun over long periods of time).
It's pretty quick as well, and the ink cartidges (it takes just the one slot in cartridge) are not extortionate and seem to last pretty well.
Connectivity-wsie, you can plug intop your PC via USB, use the internal card reader (not SDHC capable unfortunately - thats the only downside, but this printer came out before SDHC cards, so its to be expected), you can plug your camera in directly via USB/PictBridge or you can even print via bluetooth from a phone or other bluetooth equiped device.
Very portable (you will likely be suprised by its compact, and well built form), and you can even get a battery pack to make it truly prtable.
A great little printer.

Quality is good - used for printing labels and A3 posters. Can't comment yet on how long ink will last as only been using for a few weeks.

What a cracking buy, 2006-08-12 I recently purchased a Kodak C360 - This is a great little printer easy to setup and very easy to use. The quality of the prints are brilliant, the colours are true and the finish of the prints I could not fault. I have purchased this for one off special prints. It is not a replacement for large quantity printing, it would not be that economical. I purchased an extra pack of 40 sheets 4x6 print paper plus cartridge at the same time, another good buy from Amazon. Again packing and delivery excellent. I checked the prices of both these items on the Kodak website. Amazon came up trumps on the prices.
