- KODAK Zi6 POCKET VIDEO CAMERA
- Pocket Video Camera
- Includes 2AA rechargeable NiMH batteries and charger.
- 4GB high performance SDHC memory card.
An excellent budget HD camera, 2008-12-29 This little beauty is a pocket sized HD video camera suitable for everyday use. It makes bulky cameras a thing of the past and is so simple to use that even I can use it!
The image quality of the HD footage is remarkable for a device at this price. Outdoor and well lit environments look absolutely stunning, but much darker environments will be quite grainy (so make sure that when shooting in these environments you provide some kind of decent light source).
SDHC support up to 32Gb means no more knackered tapes and is quick to get started recording and reviewing recorded material on the device. Getting the video of the device is simplicity itself - on Macs (and PCs, I believe) these are presented as external drives and one only needs to copy or move the files from the device to your hard drive. All recordings are stored in the efficient H.264 video codec within a MOV container.
That said, the Kodak Zi6 is not going to be for absolutely everyone. To get the very best of out the device may require some post-production work.
The biggest issue for most people is going to be the lack of an image stabilizer. This was omitted to keep costs down, but in my humble opinion is not entirely a bad thing. This at least guarantees that the quality of video shot is top class. How stable the shot is depends on you. There are several ways of getting around this. For starters the Zi6 has a tripod mount which will fit any standard tripod fitting. As the Zi6 records in H.264 MOV format, footage can be brought into editing and FX packages and there are plenty of software available that can take of fixing stabilization issues.
As a Mac user, I use iMovie 7 (part of iLife 08) which manages the shot footage just fine. I use it to produce non-HD but high-quality widescreen videos suitable for YouTube when I want to both HD and non-HD material. PC users are catered for with software that's bundled with the camera.
Switching between macro and non-macro mode is easy enough, but if one wants to get in real close you'll have to stop recording, flick a switch, then start recording again. The switch is situated in an awkward place to be able to do it while filming at the same time. But this is no problem - just stop recording, flick the switch, start recording again and join everything together in your preferred video editing package.
I'd highly recommend getting a USB extender cable because trying to fit this device on a Macbook is a little crazy when you have a mouse plugged into the other USB port.
I like the inclusion of the soft cover carrying bag which also acts a decent lens wipe too when you accidentally put your fingers over the lens (although I still carry proper lens cleaning cloths to be safe).
The little joystick operates just fine, even with my sausage fingers as do the buttons that sit next to it.
The inclusion of the battery charger is well thought out along with two rechargeable AA batteries, and the fact the device can take regular standard AA batteries as well is excellent.
Kodak are onto a winner here and with a bit of practice and some post-production skills, you too and produce excellent high-definition home videos at a price that's just right.

Great frame, 2008-07-19 I can't speak for others trying to use this with their PC/MAC and having problems related to using their computer - if you simply copy the photos you want to a memory card using a card reader (I resize mine first to 800x480 which can be done using most photo-editing software) then the pictures display faultlessly. The picture quality is superb with great clarity and vibrant colours and this is backed up by other reviews online. I have no problems using wifi with Windows media player 11 and it worked perfectly the first time I set it up. If you consider that this is a high res 10" frame then even if you never used the wifi it would be a great buy in my opinion.

Display and enjoy your favourite images without ever switching on your computer with the EasyShare M1020 digital picture frame. With a 10-inch screen, this device also includes an MP3 player. The EasyShare M1020 is simple to use with its quick touch border and backlighting features, two memory card slots, and USB port! The stylish EasyShare M1020 digital picture frame lets you view your favourite photos in a whole new way!
Great!, 2008-11-15 I have an older version of this frame myself and purchased this for someone in their 80's as a present. Have plugged in flash drive to usb port and love the quality of the photos , new slideshow features etc. including random slideshow. The touch screen bit works well and once set up and set to a timed slideshow won't need to be messed about with by the owner anyway. Scanned images from pre-digital days display well and I am confident it will be a very well received xmas gift. The most negative review of the product appears to reflect nothing about this frame but everything about the purchaser's annoyance with amazon - not really relevant. Frame is fabby - very happy to give it 5 *****

Great for Kodak EasyShare DX7440, 2005-02-26 I have been using this card in my Kodak EasyShare DX7440 camera and it works fine - no problems at all. There are cheaper cards available but the stories of failures and loss of precious photos were enough to convince me to buy a well known brand. It's actually a Lexar card branded as Kodak and is warrantied for 5 years. 512mb is plenty for me and my camera - between 243 and 1176 pictures depending on mp and compression settings. At this price I would say that it is great value when compared to some other makes or high street stores.

Kodak Easyshare Print Dock complete with ink ribbon & 40 sheets of Kodak ink paper.
Great Product, 2006-06-26 I have had this printer dock for a while now and im very pleased with it. Although the prints would be expensive for large quantities like holiday, xmas etc., it is a brilliant item for just a few special prints, or making smaller pics for identity cards etc. Can print more than one picture on each sheet in a selection of sizes. AND ive just got a new phone and can link that to the printer dock and print pictures from that, so if im out without my camera I still have the facility to take pictures and print them myself. The camera is also exceptionally easy to link to the computer so making both camera and printer dock very versatile.

    Excellent, 2007-03-18
Absolutely no problems with this simple to use memory card. It's ideal for snapping away at anything and everything or for taking multiple shots of a scene for reviewing later.
On a 6.1m pixel camera it stores around 850 photos or 45 mins of good quality video - a lot more if your pixels are less. I used it for 3 weeks solid, shooting about 550 photos and about 20 mins of video.
Picture & video transfer to a PC has been hassle free with excellent results.

The KODAK Ni-MH Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KAA2HR is an ideal choice to power select KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Cameras. The KAA2HR allows in-camera charging from your EASYSHARE Dock or K4500 Charger.
Brilliant battery, 2008-02-16 This rechargable battery is brilliant. It last for hours, I took my camera on holiday and only had to charge the battery once a day after taking photos all day long. If you use your camera less then you may only have to charge the battery every other day on holiday. I'd recommend buying this battery because it will save you a lot of money in the long run & of course using rechargable batteries is better for the environment. One tip though - if you buy two batteries & carry the spare one, if you get too snap happy and the battery runs out you'll always have a back up.
