Vivitar digital camera., 2010-07-13 Camera gives very good photos. It is very simple to use - even more so than the Hitachi which I bought for an 8 year old, so I gave this one to my 6 year old grandson with a 16 mb memory card. He is fine with it. The only slight drawback is that it takes three AAA batteries which don't last quite as long as the two AAA's in the Hitachi which I bought at the same time.

MINOX
A flawed masterpiece, 2007-09-09 This is a beutifully made item: the quality of the metal moulding is exquisite, but the neoprene flap that covers the USB connector is flimsily connected. Unlike earlier offerings from Minox, there's no lens cap available and the fitted leather case for the earlier models won't fit since this model is slightly larger.
You have to read the instructions carefully to get better images than are delivered with default settings, particularly EV+ for use in low light, which considerably extend s the range of use.
One problem that I can't get round (and the dealer I spoke to can't either) is that when you switch on with an SD card inserted (which is pretty essential when using maximum image quality), the egg timer shows on the LCD and continues to do so until you get bored and turn off.
As a Leica user, I'm glad I have one, but it's a collector's novelty, not recommended as a user's only camera.

A cheap camera, 2010-08-02 An inexpensive camera but very limited in functionality, but for the money I suppose one can't complain.
Does get a bit battery hungry if you use the flash, or video recording.
If you want more control over shutter, aperture, or focus, this isn't the camera for you.
As they in the advert, it does what it says on the tin..... which is it takes pictures.
Really should come with even a basic case though..... and perhaps a bit more information in the sales blurb regarding its very basic functionality.

GE X5, 2010-08-04 I looked at the Nikon 110 (great name but expensive) The Fuji S1600 (had some bad reviews and was £30 -£40 more than the X5 - although the Fuji has HD video) so, at the price the X5 was the one I want for.
Seems well built - the controls are easy to use, you will need to read the PDF manual to get the most out of the camera - although on auto it seems to work fine.
Video works well but only SD quality (but if I had wanted HD video I'd buy a video camera)
Zoom is excellent Macro is also good - the auto focus takes a bit of practice (other people have been complaining of blurry pics) but when you have the hang of it it's fine.
Don't expect £500 DSLR performance from this camera - but its a lot better than a point and shoot - it's worth it for the zoom alone in my opinion.
You will need to buy an SD memory card and some rechargeable batteries to make the most of this camera.
