Fantastic Camera, 2008-11-13 If you want a great entry level SLR with tilting live view LCD screen and plenty of mega pixels then this is a GREAT camera.
If you wanted to nit pick you could point out that noise at high ISO settings is quite bad compared to the likes of a Nikon D3. But for the price it is definitely 5 stars!

Good quality easy camera, 2007-05-02 This camera has been great. When i first got it i was very pleased with it and i still am. The quality of the camera is excellent. It even looks nice which is a bonus and it's also very easy to use. It's not too big or too heavy. I think this is the best camera i've ever had but now i am selling mine so i can get a new olympus one with more megapixels.

With the GX-20, experience a more beautiful world. The world is brighter and more vivid that you can see, and its more bountiful than you can feel. With a 14.6 Megapixel APS-C size CMOS image sensor, youll see an entirely new world. Excellent out-focusing allows you to capture an amazingly vivid image, and superior definition means youll always get the ultimate brightness.
Fantastic Camera, 2009-10-05 My first digital SLR, but very very happy with the quality. I read reviews that the kit lens were not good, but they are better than anything I ever took before with a non digital SLR. Particularly the rich colors and having 14.6 mega pixels to zoom in and crop while still getting great results. I generally take pics in RAW+JPG mode which still gets loads on an 8gig card. I even have taken pics in heavy rain (since the manual said you could) and standing in knee deep surf too, with sea water occasionally splashing on me. The weather proofing on this is great.

Canon
Incredible!, 2003-10-12 After a 7 year break from serious amateur photography I decided to get my self a decent camera again and so I read reviews on Amazon and in the photograpic press. It seemed in terms of quality and features that the Canon G3 was the only choice to go for and I was so pleased when I secured my model before it was discontinued for just £399.00!! The G3 is, in a word... STUNNING! I have finally become familiar with absolutely EVERY function that this camera offers. It took me quite a few weeks but that is due to the sheer volume of functions rather than the complexity, because complicated it is not! It is such an easy machine to get along with and it is amazingly user friendly. Sony have included some extremely well thought out features that reflect their attention to what a photographer REALLY wants, such as... if you half press the shutter button when in the middle of "fiddling" about with menus etc., the camera intantly goes into "shoot" mode so you don't miss that photo opportunity... even if you were in the middle of viewing stored pictures at the time! Also, if you need to make a manual adjustment to exposure or perhaps white balance for example, you can take the photo (with the setting changes you just made) without actually saving and exiting the menu you were using, then it just returns to the menu where you left off so you can decide whether to save the changes or return to normal settings! Excellent for that time that you want to make an adjustment, but only for that one particular shot. The G3 handles beatifully, and the the picture quality is stunning. I was worried that I would wish I had waited for the new G5 to come along. But since the latest magazine reviews claim that the G3 actually takes better quality pictures than the G5, I am really chuffed! It seems the G5, although sporting more pixels, squeezes them all onto the same size sensor as the G3 which results in a minute increase in detail but a loss in overall picture quality... particularly at the edges. If you can find one of these legendary cameras... Buy it!

SIGMA
The size of the image sensor used in the DP1 camera is 20.7mm x 13.8mm. It is approximately seven to twelve times larger than the 1/1.8inch to 1/2.5inch image sensors used in ordinary compact digital cameras. The pixel size of the image sensor is 7.8m. The large photodiodes deployed at a large pixel pitch capture pure, rich light efficiently and give the DP1 its high resolution and richly-graduated tones. The DP1 uses the same 14 megapixel (265217683 layers)direct image sensor as the SD14. Utilizing the special features of silicon, which is penetrated to different depths by differe...
sigma dp1, 2009-11-09 this is a truly revolutionary camera with the largest sensor in any compact camera and using the foveon chip that sees colour in real time.
the images from my dp1 are very sharp and have very saturated colours with virtually no noise.
it outclases any other compact ive had and even makes the canon G10 look noisy and soft in comparison
not the most spontanuos party camera around but 1st class images are its forte
it is also beautifully made

Canon
An excellent little camera, 2007-03-14 I got this camera back in 2004 and have only just parted with it. It cost £225 new and so I expected rather a lot from it - and a lot I got! 4mp now seems like rather a small amount of megapixels to have, but 3 years ago, and even up to a year ago, it was rather decent, the norm really. And those 4mp served me well! That camera saw me through most of University, and as you can imagine, it was used a lot! It captured everything from night-time clubbing shots to daytime beach scenes, and it served all purposes beautifully. Of course with only 4mp and a lack of optical zoom, it can't capture those far off shots, nor can you blow the pictures up to above around a4 size. However, if you are looking for an excellent quality camera, with amazing picture quality, then I DEFINITELY recommend this, 100%. It oozes quality and style and is absolutely tiny, making my friends who were owners of huge clunky cameras, very envious indeed! The absolute best feature has to be the macro function. It produces absolutely stunning results and I truly would recommend you make full use of this function!
All in all, for £110 you could buy a camera with more mp and a zoom. Don't write this little Canon off though, it offers so much more.

Pentax
Excellent camera, 2010-02-24 I've been using a K20 for nearly a year and I'm thoroughly pleased with it. It feels right, the image quality (with the right lens) is excellent, it seems solidly built and it's easy to operate. It's perhaps not the best for sports or fast action photography but for landscape/buildings etc it works extremely well. Going by image quality and the simple 'pick it up and try it' test (which is of course very personal) it was my preferred choice even though my budget would have stretched to cameras costing nearly twice as much. The only criticism I have is that it sometimes underexposes on fully automatic mode (which I rarely use), though it's fine on aperture priority and manual.
Another advantage of this camera is that it's compatible with all Pentax K-mount lenses, so there is a huge selection of glass available including the old manual lenses going back to the 70s. The standard kit lens is OK but a camera of this quality really deserves something better such as the Pentax 16-45 or 17-70, or possibly the 16-50.
