This can only be 5 star. i have bought so many cam corders Cannon standard def which cost £300 together with 4 others, aiptekx2 Flip Ultra HD and a budget one from Aldi. This knocks the socks off the lot. Forget the Flip range. Honest, Complete waste and really do not know where the hype comes from. The Xacti video is crisp colourfull and unlike many others completely judder free 60fps. Focusing is quick, so easy to use one button for vid one for stills. Stills quality again is stunning. The camera is not just a little add on it is fully functional 12mp not 10 as advertised. You can also take a still while taking a video or even better take a still from a video clip no loss of quality. You can also edit the vid cut/join without the need for a PC. Just copied pics and vids to PS3 and it plays the video files as well. Battery life is great (not poor a prev review) charges in less than 2 hours and Amazon sell spares for £6. I have at last found what I consider to be the best camera under £300. Yes you don't get a case, lead, card but hey ho I am reviewing the camera. Careful the gloss plastic body does scratch. Just Buy it then just post a review to thank me!!

I have beeen installing Eneloops in all our electrical devices at home.
No memory effect (important problem with the NiCds) and almost no self-discharge.
After 3-4 recharges, they are self-payd as you do not have to purchase more batteries for years.
I use them too in my radio-controlled airplanes , transmiter and receiver.
And it is the best, responsible eco decision.
I can not find reasons to purchase alkalines....

I have so far found this camera to be really handy and easy to use. It's small and light, so handy for popping in your bag. Starts up quickly and i like the stills image capture, so you can use it as a stills and video camera. I've not tried it underwater yet but have used it in a humid environment and no problems. The only thing i've found is the lack of lens cover. I wouldn't have seen this as a problem before buying but i certainly think some sort of protection is needed - so buy a case too.

First off, I didn't purchase this camcorder from Amazon. It was an impulse purchase from the Gadget Show Live Event held at the NEC Birmingham in April 2010. I own an old Panasonic mini DV camcorder and was on the lookout for a more up to date replacement. The Sanyo caught my eye due to the unusual pistol type grip. The camcorder feels safe and comfortable when you hold onto it, almost reassuring.
The controls are very user friendly and even with my large hands there are no problems singling out the controls. Everything is clearly marked and intuitive. The CG100 takes SDHC or SDXC cards(I think the XC cards were a bit thin on the ground when I wrote this review).The CG100 records in full HD producing fantastic crystal clear footage and with a 12x optical zoom and image stabilization, you can't really go wrong. The zoom produces no noise on video footage as some other camcorders do.

You can also take still images with the CG100 as it features a 14 megapixel sensor. This may be useful if you are in a spot and don't have a dedicated digital camera with you but I found the response time too slow for any quick shots. If you just want a still image of a landmark, you should be fine. I chose the black model and love the look of the camcorder as it is finished in a gloss black like the Samsung TV's.

After a few test shots, I tried the connectivity out. You get a short mini USB to USB lead for connecting to your PC. Windows 7 immediately recognised the CG100 and showed it as a removable drive. I simply copied the files over to the PC. If you are not familiar with this process, I would maybe try Windows Movie Maker or an alternative. It is unusual to not receive some sort of bundled video editing software with a camcorder, but I found nothing in my box.

The battery is charged out of the camcorder and takes up to 120 minutes to charge fully. I would recommend getting a spare battery if going out for the day as there really is nothing worse than a disgruntled cameraman with a flat battery, ask my wife!

Lack of a case in the package lets it down a little but aftermarket cases are available if you look for them. In conclusion, I would recommend the CG100 as a worthy candidate if you are looking for a full HD camcorder at a reasonable price.

I originally ordered the Flip - big mistake- awful pictures grainy graphics waste of money. I then ordered the Sanyo and what a fantastic little bit of technology. Fantastic zoom, great graphics, wonderfully clear picture. Would highly recommend, for the money you can't go wrong.

Had this for over a year now with nothing but praise for its simple operation, robustness and picture quality. The sound quality too is excellent and the microphone is very sensitive, picking up sound from some distance away. I have had no problem with the swivel viewfinder and I have used it extensively, including in snow and salt water.
Some compromises - HD video, waterproof, compact, good battery life, but not great for low light video. Still shots can use the built-in flash. Overall, superb if you are the outdoor type.

These are great rechargeable batteries because they hold their charge just like disposable ones rather than running down even when not being used.
