I spent a lot of time looking for the right LCD for my bedroom and I'm thrilled I opted for the Sony KDLV26A12U. Straight out of the box I was impressed with the looks and build quality of this TV. Setting up was simple and it tuned itself to all channels within a few minutes. The picture quality is very good even at factory settings but after switching from 'Vivid' to 'Custom' picture settings and with a few necessary tweaks the picture is brilliant. Colours are vibrant, I get no motion blur and great contrast. The option menus are easy to understand and make adjusting to your personal settings a doddle.
I would recommend this TV to anyone and can't wait for the Sony RDR HXD710 DVD recorder I have ordered to arrive.

I bought this TV before christmas to replace a much older sony CRT set and am still happy even though I have received the credit card bill.
I had looked at the cheaper Sony BRAVIA KDLS26A12U 26 but found that the picture quality particularly greens and blues was not nearly as realistic as this set. The HD interface is also nicely placed on the rear of th set on this model whereas on the cheaper models the connection sticks out from the side of the set and is visable which i thought was realy quite a poor design flaw on the cheaper model.
I have found the TV has excellent picture and sound quality which you would expect at the price. When I purchased the set there was a £200.00 cashback offer from Sony when you bought a sony DVD recorder or home cinema which I put towards RDR-HXD710 with a 160GB Harddisk and the two work together really well.
The only criticism i have is that the freeview channel guide is a little clumsy/awkward to use but this is a minor point.

These other reviewers must have lost their glasses - this TV is very average. The 26" seems to lack the WEGA Engine, which is present on my KV28HX15, despite being a third of the price!
As such, surely the KDL-S26 is a better buy? The blocky digital noise is really nasty (mpeg blocking) on the built in digital tuner. Playing with the settings improves things a bit, but it's still noticeable. True, the colour and contrast are good, but I expected more at this price.
The sound is fine, by the way...

I have looked long and hard at different lcd tv's and finally plumped for the Sony Bravia KDLV2612AU.Boy am i glad i did, never have i experienced such a richness of colour in a tv.The picture quality is fantastic.I played with the custom picture settings and got really good results,Sony costs that little bit more but in my opinion its well worth it.The only advice i would give is if you have'nt got a cinema sound system, get one because the only criticism i have is the sound quality does not match the picture quality.
Luxury TV viewing, 2006-02-20
It took ages to decide which flat screen TV to buy, but after seeing the Sony with a sample high definition TV picture even my wife agreed that we had to have one. The best thing I can say is that it even makes Coronation street interesting and after 10 minutes we had even forgotten how much it cost. The TV is easy to set up has a superb picture off of a standard digtal ariel signal and with an HDMI upscaled DVD input is fantastic. Roll on HD televison, even I might subscribe to Sky then.
