Disappointing , slow but ok, 2010-05-27
I am fairly good at setting up new equipment, but in the end had to pay a specialist engineer to set this up for me. The complication was that I had a sky box and the panasonic viera TV I have only has one scart socket. The instructions for setting up this combi recorder did not make allowance for the fact that my Viera TV has only one scart socket whereas the instructions for setting up the system if you have a SKY box assumed 2 scart sockets. In the end the engineer fixed it up with an HDMI cable which is fine, but the instructions were not good enough to alert folk like me to know this.

I also find the response to the commands of the remote when turning on are SLOW. This is because the recorder insists on saying HELLO and takes at least a minute to start up. So if you are watching TV and suddenly decide to record something direct from the TV I reckon there's about a minute delay before the action gets results. On the whole disappointing for the money it cost, but then there are very few reasonably priced combi VHS/DVD recorders out there.

I bought this item purely to record from my video camera to disk and watch the occasional dvd. I am not interested in the freeview so I can't comment on how well this works.

When my dvd player arrived I set it up with ease, without even the need to use the manual and connected my camera no problem. However, I was unable to get it to record to disc. I read through the manual for recording and tried different discs. In the end I rang LG to ask advice and they told me it was faulty.

I got on the phone to Amazon and without any hesitation they sent me a new one out first class and sent me all the details I needed to return the faulty dvd player hassle free and with no cost to myself.

The new dvd player works perfect and I have now managed to record all my camera videos onto disc. I am not going to mark this recorder down due to having one faulty one as these things happen and I could not have recieved better customer service from Amazon.

The recorder is perfect for my needs and an affordable price and I would definately recommend it.

Having put up with a Samsung DVD recorder/player for five years, and been totally frustrated by its complicated set of procedures just to record onto a DVD, what a joy it is to change to this Panasonic product. Simple to use, with clear (though comprehensive) instructions, it is like taking a breath of fresh air after emerging from a smoke-filled room.

I changed to a Panasonic LCD TV at the same time, replacing a Samsung LCD TV that was simply rubbish. Happy now......

Worked very well for a few weeks and then stopped working properly. I am currently in the proceess of getting help from the Panasonic Customer Care people. My problem is that the 'direct through line' appears to be damaged and I cannot get any recieption on my TV if the DVD Recorder is switched off. Everything works normally when the DVD Recorder is switched on.

When you want to edit adverts out on programme on hard drive and then dub to DVD this machine becomes a nightmare
After dubbing to Dvd and playing back the recording becomes all out of synch and the picture jerks all over the place so if you want to dub to Dvd you can only record to the hard drive on BBC
AVOID.

This arrived in record time and did everything as described. Small and compact and fits nicely in my bedroom upstairs. Picture and sound quality is excellent and unit is very quiet.

Well, what can I say. It arrived very quickly. At first, you think, it is going to be difficult to set it. But, after reading the booklet and do it step by step, there it is, it was done and set. Our advice is not to look at all pages. Just start from the start likke the book and do it in stages as it is in the book. Otherwise you see it as a mess and you get confuse.

I have had this Panasonic Freesat Recorder for a couple of months now and I'm extremely pleased with the product. The picture and sound is very good and recording on HDD is easy. I haven't used all the features yet but up to now I am very glad I chose this particular model. I would recommend this Panasonic Freesat Recorder to anyone wishing to purchase a machine that will give you HD channels for free as well as the opportunity to record on HDD, copy on to disk if it is to be kept and play DVDs. I spent a long time looking for the right one and the search has paid off!!!
