This item seems sturdy and well built -essential for a player that one may wish to carry around. It is wise to get a protective sleeve/case for it; these are availoable throgh Amazon for under £10. The player seems easy to operate, and the instructions are clear. Picture clarity is good -much better that some cheaper models I've seen. As yet, there hasn't been an opportunity to put the player to real test, or to measure battery life and the efficiency of the digital TV facility which it includes. But based on an inital test and small amount of usage, I'm willing to give it full marks.

A huge step forward for portable DVD, 2010-08-12
Brought one of these not really believing what I was reading from the information on the webpage, but having seen the Nextbase brand in Halfords and John Lewis thought I would give it a try. The design of this product is simply genius, I have struggled for years having to set up my old portable DVD every time I wanted to go anywhere, now thanks to the electronic mount I don't need to do it anymore. I set it up once and now I just simply click the unit on and off when ever I need it. It remembers where the DVD stopped when I re-connect it so the kids don't scream that they have ''seen this bit already''! Feature-wise it has everything, plays all DVD/CD's, plays music or video from USB/SD and can view my photos through the SD socket too.

On top of all this the fact that it's the only product to be crash tested and pass gives me great reassurance that it's safe to have in the car. The fact its crash tested also speaks volumes about the build quality of the product.

Very good quality player, 2010-05-12
I've had this player for a few weeks now, and find that the playback quality is excellent, ease of use good etc. The only one slight niggle is that each time the player is switched off the picture size reverts back to 4.3 as default. Which means that you have to select 'options' and go through a procedure (allbeit short and simple) to select the picture 'full screen'. Having looked through the manual there doesn't seem to be a way of resetting the picture default size. But even with this small niggle I have no regrets in buying this.

The player doesn't come with any earphones, or bag to store it in, however it's worth considering the Hama case (see my review) as it has lots of space for both the player and accessories.

Philips PD9060/05 9 inch Portable DVD Player

This is a super DVD player - I am no gadget expert but as a DVD player to entertain my two young kids in the car on holiday and on flights etc, it is fabulous. Having previously owned a different Philips the progress they have made with the battery life, picture and product design is evident. I found the DVD fitted on the armrest between the front seats so both kids could see it and was reasonably stable without using the rather cumbersome car mount. I am very happy with the picture and sound though I am no technical expert - and more importantly so are the kids. Great to have a 6-hr battery life, very handy on planes etc. Highly recommended!

I bought this dvd player for my two young children when traveling to the cannaries on a plane. They enjoy watch cartoons and it kept them quiet happy on the plane. I cannot fault this product. It's exactly as it is described on amazon add and even better. I cannot recommend this product enough.

Great item. Really good quality, great for long plane journeys. I also use it as my main DVD player at home.

Good quality, practical, easy to use DVD player. Purchased for my young daughter to watch in the car and it's absolutely ideal and ready to go straight out of the box. The headrest mount is simple, but functional and picture quality is good. Sound is a little tinny, but no worse than you would expect for such a compact unit. More than adequate for use in the car and much better with headphones if you need it.

Great value for money too!

this was the best thing I could have bought in a long time... My daughter loves it and it keeped her happy for hours whiles we where driving for hours.
Also used it indoors for her to watch a DVD in bed and again, it was great.

I bought this DVD player for my 7 year old son and he loves it. It is very good value for money as it also comes with a carry case and charger for the car. This worked really well on our recent trip away and kept my son amused for hours in the car.
