Good product but won't deliver HDTV in the UK, 2010-07-08
Despite the advertising on the packaging as being "HDTV ready" it won't actually work with HDTV in the UK as (according to the manufacturer) the UK uses the DVB-T2 standard which is unique in Europe and which this product (no any other PC tuner apparently) is designed to receive. The manufacturers say they will eventually release a DVB-T2 tuner but not for "several months". Other than that, this is a good product for standard definition terrestrial TV and it integrates nicely with Windows 7 Media Center. From my location (near London) it picked up 97 channels no problems when connected to an external aerial.

My 1989 Sony Hi-Fi stack gave up the ghost after sterling service, ending its days in my home office and being used for playing the odd CD or listening to the radio while I worked, as well as providing sound for my PC. Enter the TEAC AG790! Having read the previous reviews before buying it, I can wholeheartedly concur with them. What I wanted was something that inexpensively replaced the Sony's basic duties and the TEAC does this wonderfully. Okay, ir doesn't have a graphic equaliser like the Sony had, but the sound is superb (I'm running it through the Sony's speakers, as there's nothing wrong with them), the build quality is excellent and the controls are simple and straightforward. I can listen to my vinyl records, cassettes, CDs, the radio and power my PC sound as well. And all for just £130! Highly recommended.

Recieved the unit as usual on time, what can I say, very easy to set up, documentation clear and simple, approx 5 mins messing around with internet connections, but then all working, tried it locally picture very good, tried it a few weeks ago on a visit to vietnam, and france excellent, picture is a little bit pixelized but still really watchable in both places...... (only thing I would check is your upload speed, the area I live in is very far away from the main junction box!, check with your provider to see if it can be increased.

This unit is therefore highly reccommended!! - (Only downside is the arguments with the Wife for access to the controls while I'm away!! :-))

I wanted a new tuner to replace a failing old FM one. Went for this one as it is FM and FM at what was a reasonable price.

The sound quality is good but the build quality is poor. The tuning knob feels flimsy and as if it is about to come off in your hand. The display a horrid, dim green colour.

If you only listen to one or two stations this unit is excellent value for money. If you want a better build quality, you need to pay more.

I still don't understand why DAB radios/tuners are so expensive; as I understand it the DAB part is just a few common microprocessors. Maybe the manufacturers are still cashing in on the 'desirability' of the idea!

Fitted this unit for a customer & he loves it,so much so that he wants 1 fitting to his other car in place of the parrot system he allready has,i think that explains itself..Oh,and he really is hopeless with technical gadgets but managed to suss this out in less than 10 mins!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hauppauge WinTV Nova S2-HD/Satellite and HD Satellite PCI TV Tuner card

Fantastic HD Satellite receiver, 2009-08-15
I've used this card in my media center PC, which is running Windows 7 Ultimate, alongside a Hauppage NovaT-500 for regular Freeview reception. The card works beautifully, adding hundreds of satellite channels, including BBC and ITV HD, with no headache. Do download the latest driver and install that BEFORE you set up Windows Media Center if you go this route as it's easier than adding as you don't have to find the transponder scan settings then. The card works great and the additional channels are fantastic, especially since there's no monthly charge ala sky.
