Easy radio to get working - enjoyed its use - 18 months later it's stopped working and the adapter would cost £13+ to replace and one just thinks, "It's not worth it - I'd rather buy a different make that might last longer than pay Pure more money when their product didn't last the course."

I find this clock/radio perfect for the bedside. It is easy to set up, easy to use, the sound quality is good and it looks pretty stylish too.

Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5 Good radio clock, 2010-07-18
Pros:
- lighting sensor
- good design but needs inprovement
- multiple alarms
- very good display and clear
- very dim display during the night(I love it for that)
- the text scroll feature is very handy and useful

Cons:
_ no backup battery
- the difference between the volume scales is to big(when listening before you go to sleep number one is to loud and the next step down is mute)
- mono sound, no stereo
- a lot o space wasted on the sides makes it look cheap

Overall a very good alarm radio clock. I had a Sony XDR as well but this pure is better.

This is a superb bit of kit, it sets up in less than two minutes and sounds great especially through headphones.

I had been umming and ahhing about purchasing a dab clock radio for a while. I decided to go with the Pure. My first impressions was that it does look very sleek and very sharp.
The little dangling mouse tail aerial does a very good job of picking up a multitude of DAB and FM stations. Speaking of FM - it is nice to see that RDS has been included.

I took an instant liking to the clock radio - as soon as I plugged it in - it sorted itself out and gave me the time.
Setting the alarms is a bit fiddly - but nothing too hard. It would have been nice to have a simple on/off switch for the alarms, because you need to step through the alarm menu to turn the alarms on or off - nice idea to have 3 alarms, very useful feature.

The radio is a delight - despite the size it sounds great, nice crisp sound is a huge delight. 8 DAB and 8 FM presets is very sufficient - however no real quick access here to preset stations.

Moving onto the main area of functionality - the actual clock. My previous alarm clock was a simple green LED clock which was easily visible from a distance. I had read other reviews about the Siesta dim display and thought surely it can't be as bad as that.....it is!
With natural daylight or the room light on, at night time, the sensor adjusts and the display is brightly visible and looks great. However at night, with all lighting off, the display dims so much that I have had to move the clock a lot closer to be able to see the time - it is a far cry from my bright green LED display. I contacted Pure about the problem - and asked them can the dimming sensor be disabled or over-ridden, the answer was to the effect that the display has been configured based upon average lighting conditions, it cannot be switched off.

With the old clock - I could open my sleepy eyes in the middle of the night to see the time, without requiring too much effort, but with this clock I have to focus properly to acknowledge the time.

As a DAB unit it is fine - as a clock radio it fails - the display is simply too dim. If you are interested in purchasing this unit - I would recommend going to your local retailer and sticking your finger in front of the sensor to attain an indication of how dim the display will go at night time.
