 Replacing my old DVD player with newer technology, 2009-02-03
Having invested in a Sony HD television I decided to replace my old clapped out DVD player. This one seemed good value and I must say that if does everything that I wanted. Clear pictures with good detail and also allows me to view all my old digital camcorder DVDs plus digital photos stored on CD. A Blue-Ray player may have given even more detail but on my 32" screen I bet I would struggle to tell the difference. Anyway I can not justify the cost of HD DVDs. All in all I am pleased with this and felt it came at a very acceptable price.

I just splashed out on a HDTV so didn't want to buy an expensive Blu-ray player just yet, therefore I decided to get this player as a stop-gap. I'm very glad I did as the quality is excellent! I'm not sure how it compares to a Blu-ray, but it is certainly far better than my old standard DVD player. I wonder if the fact that it removes the analogue stage by using a HDMI connection rather than scart makes the most difference, rather than the upscaling part of it.

I brought this hoping that it would play copies, be reliable and be good quality. It has certainly met my expectations so far. Ive had this now 3 months and it plays brillianty, good picture although im not an expert on dvd players, for anyone wanting good value for money and reliability then this is the product.Also simple to work, good remote, dont really need instructions to work it and it looks and act like a good quality product too. All round worth the money!

For a few years I have owned a cheap standard DVD player but recently bought a HD TV so decided to upgrade my DVD performance. Also my old player wasn't some newer films very well.
I searched amazon checking reviews etc and was stuck between this and the Panasonic on a similar price (also HDMI)
I went for this as I like sony product having owned Play Stations.
I am very pleased - best bits:
*Easy to use & set up
*looks good clean & stylish
*performance is excellent - improving sound & image quality on all m DVD's
Resume play function is great (stop a disc turn of machine and return hours later to continue where you left off
*Syns with all TV's
Mine isn't multi region but this is easy to do. I believe there is a code that unlocks players to multi region.
A great product at a good price considering Blu Ray players are £150+ and Blu ray discs are still £20-30 each.
