SONY 16GB, 2010-02-28 Purchased the Sony NWZ545B 16 GB with the built in speakers, easy to use did not take long to put on over 1500 tracks. Very pleased at what you get for the price, have not added any video to date still early days, the radio is a little poor but did not buy it as a radio. I would recommend to anybody looking for a good product from a well known and reliable manufacturer. Fast delivery Very pleased.

Good gear, 2009-11-27 Nice piece of kit. Records well and is also discreet, because of its size, in doing so.
Playback quality of MP3s is nice too. Like this v much and rate it highly. Only giving it four stars as I don't know what five stars would mean.

Excellent!, 2010-02-23 This is a cracking piece of kit, easy to load the music and operate. The buttons and display are of course small, but they are all on the unit. I don't like in-the-ear 'phones so invested in a pair of TDK over-the-ear: perfect. Highly recommended!

Loud Enough, 2010-02-11 I wanted to update my old E series Walkman with this new one, and despite some trepidation regarding negative reviews about its low volume levels I decided to purchase.
I'm so glad I did, as there really is no issue for me concerning this. Maybe others had a faulty one or they're hearing impaired and don't realise it. An mp3 at decent recording levels is plenty loud on 18, maybe 19, and it goes up to 30!If you want to listen to music louder than the player will go you are going to seriously damage your hearing.
I will always recommend Sony mp3 players over Apple. Far superior sound quality. They seem to be the only Sony products that aren't overpriced whereas ipods are, and no itunes nonsense! I cant be doing signing up and registering, giving emails etc, etc. Its an mp3 player, just click and drag music files from your library and job done. EAH...WHAT.

Different courses for different horses, 2010-01-19 I've had the Sony X-series for about 7 months now, as a replacement for my well used NW-HD1. My need was for a great personal music player with the ability to download content from iplayer to watch on my commute to work. I didn't need it for surfing the internet, or playing games or other apps - I already have an iphone. So why buy this and not use the iphone for my music and video needs? Put simply, I needed my iphone to keep in touch with work and family and, given its poor battery life (especially on my 3GS) I didn't want to exhaust it on listening to music or watching videos.
So what do I love about it? The screen is excellent and the interface is simple to use. I love the ability to drag and drop music from pretty much anywhere and I love the podcast download, especially using wi-fi - genius! Youtube browsing is pretty nifty too. I like its rugged build and slim, good looks. I love its battery - I charge it generally once a week which, on a daily commute of 2.5 hours, is impressive. The noise cancelling is pretty effective too. Most of all, I love its sound - it just beats any other personal player I've owned or listened to. I listen to a broad range of pop, rock, electronica and classical and the x-series handles it all with aplomb!
What could be better? The ability to create playlists on the player would be nice. A firmware update has apparently improved the web browser but I haven't bothered with it as I don't need it. I also worry about the earphones - if they break can I replace them? The earphones make the noise cancelling work but I can't find them on sale separately. Aside from that, the ability to zoom into images and the ability to play FLAC file formats would make it a true audiophile's choice of MP4 player.
Don't compare it to the ipod touch/iphone. Even if Sony intended it, it simply can't compete with the whole experience that Apple's slick products provide. What it is though, is a supreme content player, especially so with music.
