I HAVE HAD THIS PRODUCT FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS. THE SOUND QUALITY CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS FANTASTIC. THE TRANSFER FROM COMPUTER IS VERY EASY, THAT IS MUSIC, I HAVE NOT TRANSFERED VIDEOS TO DATE. THIS PRODUCT, IN MY OPINION, IS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. I AM NO EXPECT BUT I WOULD IMAGINE TO GET BETTER QUALITY SOUND YOU WOULD HAVE TO SPEND A LOT MORE MONEY TO BEAT THIS MODEL.

Wow! What a superb mp3 player. Compared to one I had to take back to the shop (another brand) this is a breeze. So easy to transfer music to, it seems to do it automatically without having to perform all sorts of obscre manouvers. The sound quality is also superb. When I first listened to it, I just sat there with my mouth open! Amazing! I am so pleased that I chose this mp3 after reading another lady's review.
I don't see how anyone could improve on it.

Its refreshing to find out that these items are still being manufactured. Being of "senior years" one finds it impossible to get a grip with the new things like Ipods etc etc. Even CD can't bring the pleasure the tapes do as you can start where you left off. Long may tape Walkmans rule!

First of all if you are going to compare this to the ipod touch don't even bother! They are 2 different companies but the one with 30+ years experience is showing the new kids on the block how to produce excellent sound quality.

I bought this as I originally misplaced my Sony NWZ-S639FR the sound and features on that were simply amazing. Sony seemed to have picked up where they left off with the S series (My one little gripe is they got rid of the Sensme channel and I loved that feature).

From opening the box I was already in love. I picked it up and was originally taken aback by the granite finish on the case (compared to the smooth sided S Series) I have since got used to it and think is adds a little something to the player. The X-series is simply bigger better and bolder then before. The OLED touch screen is faultless, impressive and nicely sensitive, I still only have the standard videos on the player and they are a good example of the abilities of the screen. The introduction of the buttons on the case is a life saver as I don't have to bring it out every time I want to change a song (guaranteed you put a MP3/4 player on and you like 5 out of 2000 tracks!), along with a quick way to change the volume and turn Noise cancelling on and off. I used a cheap pair of ear phones when I first bough this and I was slightly disappointed until the ear phones came to the end of their useable life and I plugged in the bundled ear phones and the sound quality almost blew my ear drums as it was sitting at a nice volume of 25.

It wasn't until I plugged the bundled earphones in I put on the noise cancelling. I think is noticeable to but this is up for debate, I think it works whereas other people don't notice it, it won't work for conversation on a busy train but it does slightly drown out the drone of the train engine on a commute to work. I think people expect 100% ambient noise to be cancelled and that is pretty much impossible but Sony appear to have done a pretty good job with this one.

I have not used the Internet or the YouTube functions due to me having just moved house and awaiting the arrival of the wireless router, so I can't really comment on the browser and people are complaining that its rubbish or jolty or not as good as Apples. Sony may have served up a bad egg with the browser and should not use it as a selling point, but again it is personal opinion. Though ask yourself why do you buy an Mp3/4 player? Is it to surf the web check emails and read the latest blog entries? Or is it so you can listen to music on the go?

For SUPERB sound quality, and fantastic video playback go for the sony, if not and you want an expensive toy you know where to go!

I live in a family where they all have i-pods and although I like how easy they are to use I wanted somthing that gave better sound quality. I read a number of reviews raving about this Sony mp3 player and decided to take the plunge.
I was not dissapointed as the little sony was fantastic with the stock headphones (apple please note!) but absolutly awsome with sennheiser px300's connected. I switched headphones to the ipod and it was not in the same league as the sony. With the sony you hear instruments on familiar tracks that you just cannot hear on the i-pod. The numerous settings available on the sony give it a sound performance that I have not heard with any mp3 player that I have listened to before.
With this product walkman is back on top of the game again.

I really can't fault this item. I owned a previous model until it was stolen, was tempted to buy the new X Series but it was out of my budget.
This player is easy to use, has a fantastic battery life and looks great. There are now also a lot of 'extra' products available for the sony players such as cases and arm bands.
The wireless connection is excellent, I work out everyday, and ok, the headphones look a little big but for the sake of an hour I can cope! The quality is excellent and it's great not having any wires in the way.
I have owned a number of mp3 players but will always use SONY due to the exceptional sound quality.

Forget iPod or should I say iCon. This really is one hell of a player. I am so fussy with sound quality that since losing my Rio Carbon I have taken back 6 MP3 players back to the shop including two Apple branded ones. I read the reviews and thought ok I will give this a go and so glad I did. The Bass does need to be turned pass the first stage to sound puncy, treble is perfect (turn this upto the max though) once turned upto the max you wont ever want to touch it again. Midrange is awesome Nina Simone never sounded so miserable lol. I never though anything could touch the Rio Carbon this really wipes the floor with anything out there. Its thin, light, easy to use. Why the hell dont more retail stores sell this. Ok its expensive but so should it be. Well made, sounds like and angel. I think I boasted enough about this

Never having used this type of product before i was a bit dubious as to whether I would manage to download music onto it etc. However, I seem to have managed fine although I did have some initial problems as my on-line music is set up for ipods not MP3. There are still some things i need to iron out - like making playlists - but for someone well over 60 I don't reckon that I did to badly. A teenager would probably have sussed it all out in minutes!!!!!

This product is crying out for a more practical carrying case. It is however a first rate Sony product and I am now very much in my wife's good books.
