Sony went through a really rough stage in my eyes; they became a little complacent with themselves, and their standards dropped significantly... I used to have a Sony DVD player with surround sound speakers which were truly horrendous; these, however are truly amazing.

I'm playing them through an Onkyo 507 HD amp, with a pretty cheap subwoofer - you can crank them up as high as they go (if you can bare that level of vibrations!) and they keep true to form; punchy base (even before I added the sub) and an extremely detailed high end.
Granted, the mid-tones aren't perfect past 2/3rds volume, but at that volume it's uncomfortable to be close enough anyway!

I'm a student, and have always been a bit of an audio geek; these are great for me - loud when needed, exceptionally clear at all volumes, and gorgeous to look at; the photos really don't do them justice!

All in all, they knock my uncle's £900 Kef speakers out the water; at a little over £100, if you want some seriously good speakers for whatever budget you have, go for these!

After checking out reviews for similar items for my pc, I went for the Sony as no-one could fault them for the price. When the speakers arrived I set them up on my plasma TV as one the previous reviewers had done this, using the headphone input to hear if there was much difference. Needless to say the sound was so much improved that they have not moved from there. I did want a sound system for the TV but was put off by having to buy another DVD to get a surround sound. Now I know it's not surround sound but it is stereo and to me sounds clear and rich, the bass is superb! Now I'll have to buy another set fot the pc!

Can't add much to what has already been said about this product. There are five really tiny speakers. So small in fact that they easily blend into the living room. The sub-woofer is reassuringly large and it includes an amplifier so saves even more space in the the TV cabinet. Placement of the sub-woofer is critical to get the best possible sound out of the system.

We used to have a 5.1 system with large speakers and a very large amplifier. While that system sounded good, it looked really out of place in our living room and the complexity of the connections/switching sources etc. meant that we only ever used the surround system on special occasions.

This system is much simpler to use and we find that we use the surround system even for everyday use. The sound is not quite as good as my previous system but definitely close enough. The connections are simplicity itself - you need an HDMI cable from each source to the sub-woofer/amplifier and another HDMI cable to connect to the TV for the picture. The sound is carried by the HDMI cable and you don't need separate coaxial or optical cable for the sound. Brilliant!

I have to echo the comments of other people about the ridiculous display. From a seated position, it is impossible to see the small display on the sub-woofer/amplifier so you can't easily tell whether the key you pressed on the remote has registered. This is something that spoils what is otherwise an outstanding product but I can't knock a star off for this as the benefits still far outweigh this minor annoyance.

this is great - it's easy to move around the house and easy to operate. Although there are not many portable radio/cassette/CD players to choose from I am happy with this model. Sounds good too. It was useful to know that the power adaptor adds a few extra inches at the back and therefore not suitable for a shallow shelf area.

This was easy to set up and I find I can see the time without my glasses as the nu,ber are large. Not yet tried to CD but it should be the same as the Radio
